Sara, originally from Dubai, U.A.E., moved to Colorado to pursue her Bachelors degree in Psychology and Environmental Studies from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She has since graduated with a Masters of Science in Environmental Policy from the University of Denver, with an emphasis on Energy and Sustainability. Sara’s diverse research background includes examination of wildlife conservation practices in the Arab Gulf, passive cooling and solar retrofitting in residential buildings in Dubai, desalination effects on marine environments, and social media analysis of sustainability’s presence on Instagram. She has presented at the Continuums of Service Conference regarding her experience with community engagement at the university level and is a serial conference attendee. Prior to joining Emu, Sara worked at an insurance defense law firm as both an office coordinator and a legal assistant – all while completing her Masters degree. An avid multi-tasker, Sara is also a certified A Greener Festival Assessor; as such, she volunteers for the Boulder International Film Festival as their Sustainability Coordinator. Sara joins Emu with a passion for enhancing sustainability practices globally and across all industries, a keen interest in learning about better building practices, and an undeniable “get it done” attitude.
