Sara, originally from Dubai, U.A.E., moved to Colorado to pursue her education in Environmental Policy and Sustainability. Sara’s diverse research background includes examination of wildlife conservation practices in the Arab Gulf, passive cooling and solar retrofitting in residential buildings in Dubai, desalination effects on marine environments, and a social media analysis of sustainability’s ‘visual representation’ on Instagram. She has presented at both graduate conferences and most recently, the Continuums of Service Conference, regarding her experience with community engagement at the university level. Prior to joining Emu, Sara worked at an insurance defense law firm as both an office coordinator and a legal assistant – all while completing her Masters degree. An avid multi-tasker, Sara is also a certified Greener Festival Assessor; and volunteers for the Boulder International Film Festival as their Sustainability Coordinator. Sara joins Emu with a passion for enhancing sustainability practices globally and across all industries, a keen interest in learning about better building practices, and an undeniable “get it done” attitude.
