Emu Systems is seeking a contract/part-time Building Science Associate to assist the Chief Product Officer. This position is ideal for individuals, with a background or interest in building science and construction technology, and who wish to work on a part-time, contractural basis. Individuals who are passionate about making a impact and being a part of the sustainable evolution of the construction industry are encouraged to apply. We are looking for someone who is detail oriented, willing to learn, and interested in gaining a practical approach in the realm of building science.

Familiarity with common word processors (Pages, Word), Excel, and CAD software is required. Besides software use, we require applicants to have a technical and practical mindset when it comes to building and construction concepts. Direct construction site experience is a plus. The Building Science Associate’s responsibilities will include communicating technical content, drafting reports, and working on analyses in our service areas. We encourage all interested applicants to apply, regardless of level of experience with specific programs or building science background. Your background and education are not as important as your willingness to learn and be a part of a growing startup culture.

Building Science Associate responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Software simulations and analysis (~60%)
  • Research and reporting (~20%)
  • Presentation and curriculum support for Emu’s training programs (~20%)

Emu Systems operates out of a shared workspace in Denver. This position will be compensated on an hourly/weekly arrangement, with opportunities for advancement. Compensation commensurate with experience. Associates are expected to work a minimum of 15-20 hours a week under direct supervision of the CPO. Applicants interested in the Passive House Standard; WUFI, PHPP, and Therm softwares; and analysis of building envelope and components are encouraged to apply.
